Ant, Nic and Price Family

What I know of George, is he leaves a wonderful legacy. I and Nic, didn’t know George that well, but whenever I saw him, he knew me and our family as if we’d been friends for years - greeted with a smile and genuine interest in what we were up to. I know how much Helen, Nick, Karen and their families adored him and know it leaves a huge hole in their lives. George was a generous man. When me and my (now) wife bought our first family home, we asked him to come and do a full structural survey on our new (but slightly dated) purchase. I remember him calling me afterwards and saying “If you need this in writing, I’ll need to charge you, but if you take my advice verbally - there’s no charge.” The house was fine - short of a beam or two that needed a few extra nails. But he refused to take any money, after spending the best part of 6 hours going in every nook and cranny - to the alarm of the vendors. In the end I had to pass some ‘dining out’ vouchers via Nick to force him to take something for his time. A few years later I was asked by Karen to DJ at her and Duncan’s wedding. Doing mates rates to cover equipment costs; as I was packing up, I got an envelope from him ‘to treat the kids’ - which I tried to refuse, but George was insistent. He loved his family. I have no doubt he left this world super proud of his own and family’s achievements. Having lost a relative to cancer I’m all too aware of the brilliant work hospice’s do. Selfless and surrounded by sadness they do an amazing job.
